There will not be any record setting pumpkins coming from the van Kooten patch this year. I have now run the gamut of splits. One stem, one blossem end and one rib. Only one of the four pumpkins remains intact. I will get an UOW on the largest pumpkin and post a picture on the AGGC site. As a result, my 2006 seed selection for others will be very limited. Having said my "gosh darns",life goes on. Life is good. Here's wishing all growers a fabulous sprint to the weigh-offs.

Sorry to hear of your bad luck. I know you'll come back next year with some real monsters. Hope that last one goes heavy for you. Take care.

I'm sorry to hear that Jake. What an amazing attitude you have! It's nice to be able to have experienced growers like yourself to look up to. Don't worry...we are all still scared of what's going to come out of your patch next year! Best of Luck Deb:)

It is better to have grown and split, than to have never grown at all is my philosophy.

A shame hear that Jake especially after the past few years for you. Oh well gives you some time to prep for next year and get an early cover crop started.
Look forward to seeing the picture on the AGGC site.

Next year? I'm still scared to see what that fourth plant weighs in at! But seriously, that's too bad... sorry to hear.

Awww, thats too bad. Its always nice to keep the ol' tradition of growing a heavier pumpkin each consecutive year. This is the first year that I haven't done this, and it is rather disappointing feeling. Shucks indeed. But heh! there's always next year, isn't there?!!?
