Have any growers with pumpkins on scales noticed growth while outside maesuring gives no expansion? If yes, how much it can be?
How long after outside expansion stops, best keep the pumpkin on line?
Can pumpkins of more than 70 days start growing or expanding again?

theo, Once your pumpkin is cut off the vine it will slowly dehydrate losing something like just over 1lb per day in my experience. Pumpkins at our latitude can grow a lot longer than 70 days it depends why it stopped maybe a hole underneath for example.

               Probably...
No one knows for sure without X-Rays but it is presumed that the interior *can* add mass. "Swedish Gustafsen" grows his fruit on scales. Checking with his older diaries or giving him an email might yield some real-world insight.
A stalled fruit can resume growth depending on the age. At 70 days you're probably on the edge with this one but genetics & weather (IE Luck) will determine this I suppose.

So, cutting means losing about 1 lb per day...
The weater improved a lot the last days...
The pumpkin is not rotting, no smell, so I suppose underneath is fine.
I leave it on the vine as long as possible than, that means up to oktober weigh-offs are 7/8/9th Oct, European, Dutch and Local (Ameland)
Many thanks so far for the andwers!

I’ve grown several pumpkin on scales and I’ve also check them with the indicator clock to see when they stoped growing. I’ve never seen any weight gain after the indicator clock stoped.

Len Stellplug made a post on this subject a few years ago,I think he said he had a pumpkin that continued to grow in size but not gain weight because the flesh got woodier and contained less water it was so long ago I might have remembered it wrong can anybody else remember what he said?

What does the indicator clock measure?
If I understand well, do you mean to say: if there is no expansion al all, there is no growth at all?
This afternoon after a great summerday, I seem to notice a milimeter or two of them growth. Due to a pile which is standing very close to the side of the squash. Vingers crossed..

it measures thousandths of an inch on a dial, or digital device, very cool, used mostly in machine shops, question 2, yes
