OK, I hope I'm not going to jinx it by mentioning it... But a crew from the Discovery channel has contacted me about possibly shooting a show on GP production, research and harvesting ... They needed someone with enough GP plants to have the best possibility of having some available for a Halloween filming date...
I warned them that mine aren't the BIGGEST - but they wanted them at least 300-500lbs - so I agreed that that was 'duable'..
I've just got all the Release forms..MAN, you'd be amazed at all this paperwork!!!
And it looks like I've got TSU involved. (the local college I've been harassing the Biology/genetics department heads at...**grin** need that PhD advice/input ya know)...

Wow! That must be exciting. You may become a celebrity. It could bring new growers into this sport/hobby.

Awesome. This sounds exciting. It is always good when one of the worthy goes public. I was excited to hear when the Hartford media came to Ken and John's patches. Discovery Channel is big time. My favorite channel. You are now right up there with Buster Baxter's piece on GP's last year. Give a shout out to BigPumpkins.com if you can. Good luck and have a great time with it. We will all be watching you so don't be nervous.

I would also like the RI growers on TV. Maybe a sitcom. As long as Terri Hatcher is in it I will watch.

Rob....why do you want Terri Hatcher to wear a bag on her head?

Yes, I'll admitt there are many others much more deserving.. This producer just had to find a research patch with enough plants - and the right climate - to be able to do a shoot on Halloween.... I'm just in the right place with a large patch.
Maybe this could aid in future attempts to get research grants - as this project continues.... So far I've hit a brick wall - since the Feds don't consider this project of commercial importance at this time...
