A big thanks to Russ Landry and the boys at Cornerstone for a very well run first time weigh-off. Todd Kline cleaned up but the top ten average was 1039 pounds which is great. Thanks to the two McKie bros who travelled here from New York State. I will be uploading pictures on the GVGO site to nite. Dave McCallum

congrats again Todd. that is now an incredibly high benchmark you set for this year's "most beautiful" award for the GPC.

Thanks guys and thanks very, very much to all the GVGO growers who are determined to support such events and continue to build this sport in Ontario. It was a fun day for me. Never having done this before it was a challenge all the way. The weather was a perfect 24*c and a good time was had by all. We were pleasantly surprised by the number of large fruit that made it to the scales. Six over 1,000 in our first year.
Todd Kline cleaned up first place with a stunningly, brilliant shimmering orange fruit that taped in at 410" ott. It weighed in at 1,250.5 pounds. This far exceeded what we believed possible for this little meager weigh-off site in mid-September.
Al Eaton held a World long gourd record for about 30 seconds at 117.5" Until once again Todd Kline climbed back on top with an earth shattering WORLD RECORD Long Gourd that jolted the tape out to 121.5".
Thanks to Roy Lee, Laurie and the whole Cornerstone crew for a first class job. Kings Buffet did a wonderful job too with a very good lunch.
Good Luck and Continued Good Growing

Thanks for all your hard work putting this together in short notice. It was a great day & I got to meet a few new growers as well as old friends. The growers were impressed with the way it was run & all look forward to next year's event. Way to go Russ. We'll see you in a couple weeks.
