this is the time of year when its fun to predict outcomes. just as in other venues its always prudent to make predictions before events unfold. even if they are wishfull thinking?

here are tugs . what are yours ?

the world record will be broken two for sure but possibly three times next month. once in canada, once in upstate ny and once possibly in the pacific north west. only one will break the 1500 pound barrier.

europe will demonstrate the ability to grow bigger and bigger pumpkins because there numbers are growing.

a rhode island grower will finish in the top three for grower of the year.

the ohio valley club will regain there strangle hold on the gpc top ten average award by squeeking out a win over second place sngpg.( but then again ? )

jack and sherry larue will once again be king and queen of pacific north west growers.

the 1068 wallace will become the number one seed of all time and will remain so for many years to come.( i like this one lol )

at least two (possibly three) newer growers will break into the gpc top ten, casting aside some old favorites.

at least one of the top finishers for gpc grower of the year will come out of ohio.

Look out unknown growers for the Canucks who could burn up a mean streak at this fall's weigh-offs...check out the Barrie weigh-off results when they are posted. Dave

Heres mine.... The world record will be broken twice by PNW growers, and once by a New Yorker... 1500 LBS will go down this year but un-sure of where. The Gadberry's will set two new personal bests!

Yes,
I think that a canadian might do it this year. I havent heard any rumors about anyone else but I know that at the end of august there was a canuck at 1300 pounds.
But then again, the percent heavy of a pumpkin can make or break a pumpkin.

Dang, the next few weeks should be exciting! I precidict no records of any kind from my patch this yearLOL.
I predict the MN state record will be broken twice..by Bhaskaran and Foss....something over 1100 lbs.

My prediction is that there will be a 1500+ pounder grown in the U.S. this year, and maybe a second in Europe. I'm also predicting the world record to be outside of the U.S. this year with a 1500, or 1600+ pounder. I guess we'll all have to watch the weigh offs closely to see who's prediction is closest. I'm looking forward to seeing the results and maybe getting some seeds from the BIG ONES this year. Hopefully someone can hook me up LOL! Good luck to everyone!

I predict there will be a new European squash record, a new Dutch pumpkin record, a new Swedish pumpkin record, and this year's winner will likely not be from the US. I also predict that somebody's really big pumpkin might split during the next two weeks.

If a thousand pounder can be grown in Idaho I'd say anything is possible from the pacific north west. I really believe a goliath pumpkin is going to come from that area this year!!!!
