(Animal) VANDAL Prevention

I must preface this post that the following method (which I never use) is illegal on humans & down right mean. Miller's Hot Sauce is an animal repellent so naturally we can only use this technique to prevent animal/vandals from messing with our pumpkins. Since Rabbits are a common animal/vandal I will share this full-proof technique.

If animal/vandals are a problem for you then keep reading.

Things needed:

Miller's Hot Sauce concentrate (MHS) - no substitutes
Disposable gloves
Pain brush
Tin can
Vaseline
Hot Plate or camp stove

MHS is like 400 times stronger than the hottest peppers. It is the same stuff that Pepper Spray is made from. Food grade pepper sauces don't even come close & are not formulated to work like this. Don't waste time trying to use lesser ingredients. I have & they don't work.

1.) Work outdoors & wear gloves.

2.) Scoop a little Vaseline into an old tin can & heat it gently on a camp stove. Don't cause it to boil!

3.) Mix in the MHS about 50/50. Just stir it around with the old paint brush. Once it is more or less homogenous, remove it from heat.

4.) As it cools, paint some on where the animal/vandal is likely to touch it (I like smaller Howdens for this too).

5.) You're done. Carefully store the goods & throw the gloves away.

I usually place the can & brush in a Zip-Loc freezer bag where it will keep until the end of the season in the locked chemical cabinet. Warm it up & re-use as needed. Throw it away when finished.

No animal/vandal ever goes more than 5 minutes without touching their own face. When the animal/vandal touches his/her face he will have eseentially just blasted him/herself with the full equivalent of Police Pepper Spray. Only the most thorough soap & water wash will clean his/her hands enough to prevent the inevitable.

It only takes about 15 minutes & works EVERY TIME!

Miller's Hot Sauce is available from specialty wholesale suppliers who furnish farmers, arborists & landscapers with quality animal repellents. I sell it for around $120 per half gallon but shipping single bottles is a real problem so please don't ask. You won't find it in the average retail garden center.

Call 800-233-2040 to find a local distributor.

Animal/vandals often work at night when we're sleeping. Try opening the bedroom window so you can hear the hoots of the affected animal/vandal. You'll lose your small Howden but gain a measure of satisfaction knowing the animal/vandal won't return.

I hope you don't work for Dupont - they like Chemmists with a crazy streak.. and your streak has an evil sense of humor to boot...

I like 'hiding' an electric fence wire around the plants/amongst the plants... If it's a tad loose - even better. Kind've wraps itself around the intruder's legs as they dance while being lit up.... No long-term effects - once they've de-tangled themselves... ***just make sure you turn OFF the wires before working in the patch***

I was thinking more about the animal/vandals that attack pumpkins on front porches.

It would be much more fun to apply the MHS/Vaseline mixture/paste to the animal/vandal by using the end 4 inches of a Base Ball Bat as an applicator. A, or several, very hard blows to the side of the animal/vandals head would ensure good adhesion of the paste.

Yes....a baseball bat makes a fine sticking agent.

This thread is hilarious. I do have to say though that when my daughter was in elementary school some freaks thought it would be fun to paint this mixture on the handles of the school doors...well you can imagine what happened....very sick joke. My daughter blew up like a beet. Awesome suggestion for vandals but if you have young children be careful! I like the one about the electric fence! priceless! Good Luck! Deb:)

Is she the typical 'Dupont personality'? If so, is that why she's an Ex?? **grin**
