about half of the seeds i retrieved out of my 532 lber had cracks on the face so big you can see the inside. what causes this and are the seeds bad now or will they still germinate? thanks dan

Cracked seeds often germinate better since more moisture can enter the seed coat. I feel they probably don't store as well since moisture can be lost through these cracks.

Cracked seeds often mean they were trying to germinate inside the pumpkin. They should be fine if there not moldy and are dried quickly. They probably wont be viable for more thane a few years if the embryo is exposed to the atmosphere.
