You may not need to do anything now. I had very few weeds this year after having a whole bunch last year. What I did was pretty simple.
Before tilling or adding any ammendments (I put in some kelp meal and a couple yards of composted manure) I blasted the garden with some Roundup. By that time, the weeds had already started to come up and the garden looked almost like a lawn. But, as my pumpkins grew, I was astonished at how few weeds there were. I only ever had to pluck out one or two here and there.
Even now that I've cleared away most of the pumpkin vines and leaves from the patch, there still aren't anywhere near as many weeds as I would have thought. And, since there are so few, they were easy to target and pull by hand. I'll probably use another blast of round up once I've cleaned out the rest of the vines.

just use 1/2 gallon 5% vingar and 2 teaspoons of dish soap in hand sprayer.

vingar as a weed killer will work but one needs to use 20-30% vingar to work

I'm a big beleiver in Roundup. This will control any perennial weeds you have. This will be of no benifit to control annual weeds however as they reproduce from seed and have likely already droped them in your patch!

one thing to remember about round up-weed or plant has to be actively growing for it to kill

mark p you must have woody weeds since the solution above kills most my weeds. As for 20-30% vingar, vingar for horticulture use (10 %) no more, any thing else you need a hazmat suit since it with seriously burn your skin.

Mat google vingar as a weed killer, everything I read stated that 5% was not strong enough or effective enough to recommend in the 3 research studies said that 20-30% is effective. mark

Maybe you have to mix the 30% with oil to be effective. Oh, no, sorry, I'm thinking of vinaigrette.

Vinegar is a nonsystemic burndown herbicide when it does work. I agree that the stronger (40%) stuff will burn the eyeballs right out of their sockets. Nasty stuff.
Use Roundup. It is much less dangerous & works a lot better.

Is it not true that Roundup excites germination while it is working to kill the weed?
Vinegar kills and does not excite germination. Heat kills. Mulching prevents growth by temperature controll, raising the PH above many weed comfort zones and light reduction needed for the weed growth.
