Which products are used to keep water storage barrels clean and safe from fungi and mold etc. Usually one would use mild javex bleach but I am a little weary of that. What are your suggestions. Kirk

I only use one, 50 gallon barrel for my tea mixtures and it never sits long enough to have and mold or fungi growing in it so can't help you there. In the off season, I keep it empty so nothing grows then either.

I use bleach as suggested by the equipment maker following each batch. The Biti-Bobolator is easy to clean as is the bucket or barrel I make the brews in. My other two barrels are filled with well water and used weekly. I let them simply air dry between refill. One twentyfour hour period is all that I usually hold water in my barrels. There is a serious 200 mesh strainer in the watering system that prevents anything of concern going on downstream. ......I do not like to store water much longer because the skeeters seem to show up almost instantly. Letting the system go dry for a day solves a number of problems.
