I learned not to disrupt a club run auction by throwing insults around and speaking when I should be bidding.

There really isn't a best part in my opinion. I was a real novice when I read the first and second, so everything was great. The books can make a pumpkin grower out of anybody. If you want to grow pumpkins, you should read the books.

I know it was Saturday Night but there is no excuse for the performance you put on during that auction. I could think of several possible reasons but that is another insult so my thoughts shall remain private. You blew it Matfox. Blew it beyond the tollerance of many.

I found the basic plant management techniques quite helpful.

I found the site search feature helpful, but I had to look it up first.

As for the giant pumpkin book I own all 7 books on the subject.
as for the other responses there is thread for that and mind you ypu business. Since most problems at auction were related to an on going dispute between dtm and me.
The dispute basic entail him calling me a liar.

Golden Rules seem to have been broken on this Clubs Auction, 1= These are fund raisers for the Club not Sh!t Sturers.... 2= No chatter (I hate that when bidding)... 3= Common decency to fellow growers was thrown out the window and has caused a rift between many folks with a common thread. Please keep your comments focused on the auction and save your PETTY CRAP for private emails if you must.

Okay, I have two thoughts, and I know that just having one at a time is sort of dangerous for me, but here goes...#1 I want the other 4 books too...and #2 Why would anyone bring a personal argument into a public auction? Probably won't find out the answer to #1, but, I can still do a search for the answer!! Peace, Wayne

Book #3 Don Langevin, and many others not so much as directed at Pumpkins, but soil, Botany, Chemistry, insecticides, funguscides, the truth about bugs, garden remedies what works, and what doesnt, and why! They all have a way right back into growing Pumpkins. Maybe Matfox ment 7 books, but there might be 7 on directly one subject, but to tell the truth, I'm Mostly self taught.
as far as the Auction goes. I came made a bid then left no problems. Stay warm wrap in a blanket, and read a book.

don langevins three books were in my opinion all excellent. each addition brought heavier fruit and updated growing practices.
howard dills book is also an excellent read. you cant go wrong with any of the above four.
for a real eye opener though go to the library and rent some books on soil, microorganisms, vegetable diseases, cures and causes,etc.--- the seed and sun is one thing, the soil is the whole thing.
