since being forced into an early retirement several years ago i have filled the void of unemployment during the winter months with hobbies and activities such as building bird houses, personalized pumpkin related hanging house and mail box wood work, then most reciently dabbled in some cartooning. i never sold any of my wood shop items but prefered instead to mail them to friends and growers who had distinguished themselves in our hobby. this winter i may try my hand at making personalized weigh off site awards. not on a huge level understand. im not in it for the money or fame. i just like seeing people receive something thats more one of a kind as an award rather than a standard shelf bought item.something they can be proud of and want to keep.
last year a really good friend and i built the top five awards that we presented at the conclusion of the frerichs farm weighoff. to say they were well received would be a understatement. ----- to be continued

Very Nice.
Personally I would much rather have a one of a kind than a piece of metalized plastic. Start carving my name on the award for this year Biggest Giant Pumpkin!! You may as well have it ready. ;) LOL

I completely agree...while we all like money, I think more of us do it for the fun and prestige. I would much rather have the personallized plaque to hang in the den for all to see.
