Hey this is my first post I grow pumpkins in western KY near owensboro for some roadside retailers. This will be my first time trying the AG. How does our KY weather fair with it and about when do you plant. I was also going to try a couple of acres of powdery mildew tolerant variety. Anyone know a good one with size/shape/weight. Thanks

Some Kentucky growers are John and James VanHook in Somerset Ky. Wayne Moore near Owensboro as well as Randy Moore also near Owensboro. Bill Brinkley in Auburn Ky.
Jamie Wexler in Frenchburg Ky. Mike Schroeder in Louisville Ky. All these folks are good AG growers.

And don't forget to mention yourself Frank, currently the state record holder!

Our weather is challenging, humidity seems to be enemy #1. Even so, several 900+ pounders were grown this year in Ky. I "stagger" plant myself. A few go in the ground mid-April, then early May, then mid May. I planted some as late as early June in '05 with moderate success.

I'm not familiar with PM tolerant varieties.

If you may possibly be growing AG's for roadside retailers, you may want to consult with them first. I had a roadside "stand" this year and while everyone loved the big ones, few wanted to hassle with them because of the weight.

Shoot me an email and I'll add you to the Ky growers email list. [email protected]

Hey fellows,
I very much appreciate the feedback. Sorry if I don't reply right away I don't have a home computer I use the hotel computers, as for one of my jobs I drive a airplane. As far as skunk cap who is that? I don't plan on selling AG's on roadside just for myself and an extension of my hobby.
