Any thoughts if "BioVam Mycorrhiza" is better/worse/or just as good as the "BioGrow Endo Plus" stuff? thanks!

The "Plus" is a worthy consideration by a grower who is one of us. Joel Holland has a good product and advises anyone who will ask or read his guide sheets or study his productions. He has results that will not or can not be overlooked with any serious question.

I know guys that use and like several others including the other one you mentioned. Purchase tight to the need because shelf life is about three years.

Thanks, One thing to consider: Most brands are a blend of Ecto & Endo. Endo is for garden plants. Ecto only works on trees and woody shrubs. Bio Endo Plus has 3 strains of Endo, plus Tricoderma and a Biostimulant. Also we buy fresh stock each year in the late Fall for sale through the following Spring & Summer. We have 1,000 lbs. of fresh product ready to go.

Best wishes for a great season in 07! Joel

Something I recently learned about the storage of PHC inoculants. Joel's Bio line may be different?:

The Ectomycorrhizal spores (VAM & AM) that pumpkins (& other annual plants) benefit from may be stored at cold temperatures.

The Endomycorrhizal spores (outer root colonization of trees) are packaged with more moisture (insures longevity) which makes them more prone to damage during cold storage & thus should be kept above freezing.

For years we were told that only high temperature extremes would affect inoculant mortality so this is an about-face for arborists who may be in the habit of using unheated garages or barns for storing their "dry goods".

To the subject: Use Tricoderma during the times when Fusarium is expected to "wake up" which is late spring/early summer around here. 2006 brought Fusarium much earlier than most years. Treating in mid-May would have been good this year but most growers are used to seeing it much later than this.

Ecto/Endo. The last two postings contradict each other. Joel say's Endo for plants & ecto for trees. Steve say's Ecto for pumpkins & other annual plants & endo for trees. Someone wasn't reading their own posting. LOL. I'm pretty sure that Joels right though.

both in a way! some endo is also for some types pine trees, and i wouldn't freeze Endo plus it recomended range of 40 to 70f, and they say its recomended to use all the year its bought. Their is a exception with a product called (Root shield)its Tricoderma, and you made me run to the freezer, on the lable it clearly states for longer shelf life refrigerate or freeze Whoa! i stopped sweating then, becuase its only 4oz , and water soulable finely ground, and expencive, alls good now. I think the best bet would be like doc said just get what you need for that year as far as freshness. So get some of that Holland good stuff while its fresh.

I mis-typed this morning. VAM=Endo.

VAM Endomycorrhiza is the most important for annual crops like Pumpkins....VAM is low temperature stable.

Ectomycorrhiza (outer colonization) primarily benefits trees. Storing endo spores below 20 degrees causes some mortality.

Sleep deprivation is a terrible thing.

Looks like another late night on the computer, eh Steve (1:13 am). I knew what you ment, but thought it needed to be corrected for some others on the site. Thanks.

Yeah Phil...This is the busiest time of the year in the Green Industry with the early order programs & all. I did manage to book a co-op for 1.25+M but the follow-up is very time consuming. Plus the regular customers still need service...GPC...CTGS&PGA Auction...Scouts....Christmas shopping....sigh
