Tough call on this one. I liked the Wiz's pumpkin a lot but I've got to give my vote to LongmontPete's.

546 Sunlin gets my vote. The absolute brightest orange and most perfect shape I have ever seen on an Atlantic Giant. Maybe not the biggest, but sure a good looker.

While this pumpkin was damaged (pin-hole split) and therefore not eligible for an official Howard Dill Award, maybe it is good enough for a virtual one.

It was grow on a Dill seed and had great color and size for only being 59 days old.

But it is up to the people to decide.

Tsst Tssst... lol Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholders....Sorry Colorado Growers...and some of you even touched Eddy.....Petes was tall and light orange with lots of stained spots on the stem side...and yes 1004... but lacked length and dark deep orange color to make it a classic beauty and purttier than Eddy...Hands down..... Send me your pics to prove me wrong.....lol Eddy is the purtiest to ever grow forth in Colorado....(colo-Red..Oh)....Orange YOU can believe in....

Behold the Beauty of Eddy....lol

Yeah that 546 is very round and purty orange....NICE! ANd I love that 1102 and those nice ribs....but agree about being a bit low...sure enough to really compare they need to be side by side so Kodak doesnt skew color perceptions.....No color alterations done on Eddy accept for brightness when my meter picked up on that dang BiZ pumpkin in the background....it bent light creating time anomolies we are still trying to resolve..... Sorry Pete, did mean to throw you kin under the orange bus.....lol

I've already voted for the 993 Vincent/Mcgill on another thread. It's the whole enchilada. Got the shape, the color, the size to add up to the most gorgeous big pumpkin out there this year....

No color enhancement on the 546. It was that orange and shiny. Just a little glare from the flash. Also look at my son's 547 on my photo gallery. It was the same bright orange color, not quite as shiny but we didn't do anything to shine it up. We thought he had a real shot at winning the prettiest pumpkin award until we saw the 546.

No color enhancement on my 801 either. Just taken when the sun wasn't shining on it.Did spray it off with water though. My camera seems to dull out the color when the sun is bright. Here is another angle. Its darker than this picture shows.

For a combination of everything, nothing beats the 993. And John did a killer cross on that one.

In my opinion, the true winner is the one that will see the most dirt next year in the patches of the hardcore orange growers. It's going to be the 993 Vincent.

Well you know that 993 is one super looking big orange...and I like the 998 Pukos in it too more than that splitter I pollinated EDDY with......lol BiZ>..We will have to keep track of the ones grown off of both as I have received quite a few asking for Eddy to plant for next year. Needless to say.....their are some real beauties listed above and now we know why its so hard to pick only one as the best.....The Intoxication from growing BIG orange is a mighty powerful spirit.....

Would be nice to have one big poster with all the Howard Dill winners pics on it for 08....and Petes 1004 too cause he woulda got the HD if they were a 300$ site....
