This will be hard to explain without pictures but hopefully it makes sense anyways. Just gonna throw it out here without pics or a video.

The idea is to break the stigma out of the pollen donor flower and then use the donor flower as a pollen paintbrush... The stigmas are hard and rubbing the donor stigma on the receiving stigma would be harsh and unhelpful. The anther cones are soft and, besides containing the pollen, can also act as an effective natural paintbrush.

A vibrating toothbrush may not even be necessary with this technique, however I've still been using mine.

Again, its just 1) pick donor flowers, singles work good for this 2) break and remove the stigma which is the hard green center part 3) carefully invert the receiving flower 4) lightly brush the yellow anther cones of the donor flower onto the receiving flower.

Try it! Let me know how it goes... perhaps this isn't even a new method (it probably isn't)... but its new for me and its the way I'm doing it now.

Maybe someone else will try this and post pics or even a video... My own diary is officially bloated and its only gonna get worse.

I would NEVER do it this way, sorry!
There is much better way to pollinate, you do it once and done,no multi day pollination efforts. There's good youtube videos showing how to do it properly.

I'm going to try this it sounds interesting. Is it hard with the megablooms that have multiple or very wide stigmas?

Please link a video that shows how you would do it Dan? Not sure what the problem with doing it this way. It works! Still, best with the help of vibrating toothbrush...

I definitely have had some pollinate over multiple days. I have one coming up that may take an entire week to pollinate because its development is very lopsided... one side will be ready to pollinate many days before the other side.

The once & done thing might work for Dan's area... because of higher night time temps or nutrient availability or superior genetics???

Gritty- I don't have the time to find the same youtube video that I learned from, but I'm sure it's still there.
The ovaries can accept pollen over a range of days so some may be small and some may be larger but they'll still accept the pollen, so that's how I can do the once and done pollination. I probably have cooler night time temps than you do as we have high desert climate here. Cool at night and cooking hot in daytime!
You're doing great gritty, you think outside the box, keep it up!
