Trench watering. Celebrities on the left and Brandywines on the right. The soil in these gardens really dries out quickly and we get a ton of sun throughout the day. We think the trench watering is a big part of the productivity that we see from the veggie garden.
Some other random thoughts on this hot and humid Wednesday: -While it is still city traffic to and from the gardens, there is a noticeable drop off in traffic with school out and so many people outside of the city for summer trips/vacation. -July and August is my slow season at work so that is helping with daily watering and garden visits. -Gardening reminds me of fishing in a way. During beautiful spring days everyone is so enthusiastic and putting in the time. Once summer heatwaves hit the lakes and gardens are not as crowded. -One of the interesting things about being in a community garden is we get to see a variety of approaches and different techniques. One thing that is consistent is that the people who put in the most time and effort are getting the best yields.
