I have one plant that has 2 kins, set approximately 3' apart. One is DAP7, the other DAP8. The DAP8 kin is about as long as a football, big around as a grapefruit, and DEEPLY ribbed. Is this a good thing? a bad thing? Doesn't mean anything? The DAP7 kin shows rib lines, but they are not already a 'groove'. Sorry about the lack of terminology. Both have good placement on the vine, both are growing equally well. In trying to make a decision which one to keep in a week or so, do the grooves matter or really mean anything?

I don't normally expect to see deep ribs on a fruit that young. Out of curiosity do the male flowers look normal (do they have a stamen with pollen inside)?

i never like a dep ribbed young pumpkin. to easy to split. some do make it though. id keep the dap 7 and also set a third on the plant in hopes of getting one with baby soft skin.
