Yes I have 30% netting over the polytunnel and it works great. I only wish I had done it sooner.

Thanks Matt for the data! Using 30% white this year due to scorching last year. It did not stop leaf scorching however it was less severe and no vine tip loss this year. I questioned heat from open soil around vines, thus my choice of white hoping for cooler soil temps? Pumpkin is 30% ahead of last year's 2181 at the moment. Should the shade cloth be removed as the season progresses?

County Boy- I am probably the only one who complains about the 2000 character limit on posts;-) I will get the post up very soon.

Gerald UK- 30% seems to be the sweet spot, especially under plastic.

NY Grower- In the end I do not think the color has that much of an impact, the percentage is the key. The cooler soil is more due to the reduced light intensity. Having worked with all three (yes three) given the option I like the white.

Hey, Matt - if you copy the text you make at X,X#? of characters, you can submit it into Google's window as a 'How many characters are in (Text Body/Paragraphs/Story)' and it'll put you in the ball park of how many there are in the post. Something to fiddle with. --- eric g

pumpkinpal2- I tend to write in "long format" and then do the character count and end-up over the maximum so I then have to break it into two parts. Regardless the information gets out there;-)
