New York Botanical Gardens: 2670 Thompson ‘24
Always a great time to see the giant pumpkins that come to the New York Botanical Gardens and this year certainly did not disappoint. Not only seeing a 2670-pound pumpkin is rare, but getting a chance to also see the inside is a unique experience. When we think about where the weights can reach going forward it is pumpkins like this that have a great symmetry outside and a consistent internal structure that give hope to a new World Record potential.
The weather was great and seeing the public interact with the pumpkins is always an interesting time. While some questions are often repeated the shear amazement, they have does not seem to get old. This is in-part what makes giant pumpkin growing so unique with the shear size that they can reach and the continual challenge to do better and make improvements year to year to set a new personal best.
